Parry Barn, 46a Main Street
Awarded a Bronze Plaque in 1996
This traditional barn (or ‘laithe’) dates from the 1820s when there were still farms along Main Street. It features an owl-hole over the arched cart entrance to encourage the nesting of Barn Owls to control rodents, and also arrow-slit shaped ventilators.
It has been used by Parry’s Adhesives Ltd. It is is now called ‘Parry Barn’ and converted to housing.
The barn is shown here in 2018 (the plaque is to the left of the arched entrance)
