Social Activities/Projects

Addingham Civic Society Social EventLike many similar organisations we have a strong emphasis on Planning matters, Heritage and Conservation, in other words the ‘Built Environment’. Although what does stand us apart of course, is the work we do to try and protect our Environment. In addition we are determined to offer as far as possible, a comprehensive social programme for our members and we consider this to be an important aspect of what we do.

In addition to our Monthly Members Meetings with guest Speakers and Monthly Newsletters we also arrange 2 Village Fayres in the Spring and Autumn which apart from being major events in our Village calendar are also excellent sources of income ! We have a Xmas Party for upwards of 70 members which includes live music and an annual Summer coach trip. We must not forget our annual Environment Weekend, an event that the residents really look forward to.

The Village MUGA (multi use games area) and the children’s play area were both Society brainchilds and remain hugely popular. The ongoing maintenance and support of the MUGA is now being provided by our Parish Council. We opened our Pétanque court at the beginning of 2020 and welcome everyone from the Village, young and old to play at their leisure.
